Affiliate Marketing Programs
Affiliate marketing programs is where you sell other people’s products for a commission. The commission will vary from 5% – 75% depending on the program and the item.
The most popular affiliate marketing programs are:
- Commission Junction
ClickBank is very user friendly, and offers very high commissions, up to 75%. They sell mostly digital products, that is why the commission is so high. It is free to sign up for an affiliate account. To find products to promote, click on the “Marketplace” link.
You can type in the products you would like to promote in the search bar or on the left side of the site, there is a list of categories. The best way to find the more profitable products, is to use the “Sort results by Gavity”. The higher the gravity, the more profitable the product is.
How Much Do I Make Per Sale?
For each product, you will see “Avg. $/Sale”, to give you an indication of the commission you could make by selling this product. To promote and sell this product, click on the “Promote” button.
Click on the “Create” button, and you will see your own affiliate link or “HopLink” as ClickBank refers to it. This is the link you will be promoting to sell the product, which is hard coded so you get credit for the sale.
Some vendors, have there own site for affiliates with resources to promote their products. Resources may include:
- Banner Ads
- Text Ads
- Pre-written emails
- Pre-written blog review
ClickBank is well established, it has been in business for almost 20 years. They offer a wide variety of products to choose from, over 46,000.
JVZoo is much smaller than ClickBank, and it is harder to sell their products. Most of the vendors require that you have at least 1 sale, and even then your commissions will be delayed.
They sell digital products, in the range of $5 – $15, then within the products, they have upsells ranging from $50 – $2,000. The product selection is low along with the product quality.
Amazon, the largest retailer online and the most popular. The problem with there affiliate program is their commission rate is very low, 4%. You would have to sell a large volume and many large ticket items just to make a small amount of commission. For most affiliate marketers, this is not worth their time.
Most of Commission Junction products are well know brand names, but it is very difficult to get approved to sell the brand name products. They offer physical products, unlike some of the other affiliate marketing programs.
With selling physical products like Amazon, comes lower commission. It is not as bad as Amazon’s commission rates, CJ commission rates ranges about 10% – 30%.
They also offer pay per action, if a customer fills out a form or requests more information, you will receive a flat fee, But, this is normally in the range of $5-$10, but this can become profitable if you put enough visitors in front of their offers.
Their approved marketing methods are very strict, along with their affiliate agreement. This is still a good choice if you want to sell physical products instead of digital products.
